The Continuity and Adaptation of a Design to New Conditions: Anatolian Craft Landskrongasse Vienna Store
When the idea of designing the window and interior space for the Anatolian Craft store, which will be located on Landskrongasse in Vienna, first emerged, we focused on how the store would be positioned for the brand and how it would align with the storefront of the flagship store in Istanbul.
This new store had to be a space that, beyond its location, combined the brand’s traditional craftsmanship with its modern vision—one that allowed for flexibility and openness to possibilities. Additionally, we aimed for a store that could instantly reflect the energy, emotions, and “color” of the brand and family. Therefore, we chose one of the brand’s strong corporate colors, Pantone 2022C – Apricot Pink (The Spring of Love), as the main element in the design. We balanced this color with contrasting tones in certain areas and neutral colors in others, giving the space depth.
One of the aspects that excited me the most during the design process was continuing the display installation, inspired by the works of Elsi Giauque, which I had previously used in the Istanbul store. I simplified and added more color to this installation for the Vienna location. Additionally, we ensured the geometric continuity of this installation inside the store. We distributed square forms, which I frequently use, throughout the space with transitions between 2D and 3D, playing with fullness and emptiness in every corner of the store.
In both Istanbul and Vienna, we created strong yet functional designs that didn’t compromise on practicality, designs that focus on Anatolian Craft’s carefully crafted, handmade, elegant, and wearable art products. In this store, located at Landskrongasse 1/3, our goal was to design the entire structure from the window display to the interior walls in a gallery-store concept, creating a space where the products blend with each other and draw the viewer in.
