Translation

The «Translation» is a series of works produced in response to the impossibility
of lossless translation of language. The works in this series aim to show through
an artistic act that some one-word expressions in Turkish will undergo a visible
quantitative metamorphosis when they are translated into another language
without losing information.
The approach taken in this series first emerged in the publication titled
«06.2022-13-dergi», for which Şehitoğlu was the project manager and curator.
Here the artist aims to show the acts of selection, performance and presentation
involved in art production in general through a function such as ‘translation’,
which can be perceived as monotonous, based on the idea that art production
actually begins with the way it approaches a subject matter.
